Our BEST DAY, so far.

How do you pack a lot of BBQ meals to deliver to a Fire Station ?  GET HELP!

Today, we had a lot of help from volunteers from Community Living working on our BBQ Assembly Line.   Here’s how they got the job done – and it’s a little tricky:

1) Set up the bags, 2) Stand up a water bottle in the bag, 3) Put in a deli container of our Famous Beans next to the water bottle, 4) Put in deli container of Pulled Pork (or Chicken) stacked right on top of the bottom container, 5) Place an individually wrapped Cookie on top of the container, 6) Place an individually wrapped Bun on top of the Cookie, 7) Place a bag of Chips (always face up) on top of the Bun, 8) Slide in a small Plate so that it stands vertically along the side of the bag (it’s a tight fit), 9) Place a packaged Napkin/Fork that stands vertically next to the plate, 10) Throw in a Mint, saying something like, “Good Luck” as you do it.  That’s 10 steps – but they aren’t done yet!  11) Crease the sides of the bag and fold the top down, 12) Tape the sides together so that it makes a tight fit (we don’t like staples), 13) Tape on the Contents/Delivery Location Tag and 14) Seal the bag with a Crossed Heart BBQ sticker.  Finally, 15) Place the packed BBQ Bag into the correct Delivery Tote. Then…Repeat, Repeat, Repeat until all the bags are packed!

And…it wasn’t too long before our volunteers began making improvements to that process – making it better than it was before.  Thanks for all the help.  It was our best day, so far!
