We made it to Spirit of St. Louis Airport and dropped off some BBQ for the Pilots and professional crew serving our community – from the air.
Metro Air Support is based at Spirit of St. Louis Airport. It is a joint, St. Louis Metro, St. Louis County Police Department and St. Charles County Police Department Command led by SGT Brandt Wathen (photo). We also brought along a few more BBQ meals for the St. County Police – Spirit Airport Detail.
One of Crossed Heart BBQ’s Mission Partners, Alex Edwards came along for the ride today to check out what we do. He’s in the photo with SGT Wathen. Thanks to all those serving our community and thanks to Alex for getting behind our mission and helping make it possible.
Crossed Heart BBQ depends on donations from the public to honor first responders serving in our community. If you’d like to keep this going then please consider a tax-deductible donation. You will be doing good!
These meals were sponsored by Jerry Kelly
Bonus: It was our lucky day to visit because we got watch lift off for the first patrol for Metro Air Support’s recently acquired and re-furbished, OH-6. Sergeant Wathen told us that the helicopter was originally built for the US Army in 1969 (just 53 years ago). After military retirement, the Helo served in other police jurisdictions before finally arriving at Spirit Airport to serve with Metro Air Support. Check out the video.
